Successful completion of this option will result in a certificate of achievement as an Early Childhood Administrator. This certificate is designed for individuals who desire to earn credits specifically centered on directing an early childhood education program. This certificate meets State of Michigan Child Care Licensing required training for ECE Directors who have a degree in an outside field. Eligibility for this certificate is dependent upon the student achieving a “C” (2.0) or better in each of the required courses. The student may choose to continue and complete an Associate in Applied Science and/or additional certificates of achievement in the Early Childhood Education department.
Earning this certificate of achievement does not guarantee that the individual will be approved by the State of Michigan to be an director (see various requirements in State of Michigan Child Care Licensing Book). Additionally, the certificate prepares individuals for various administration positions but does not guarantee specific employment. Required credentials for director positions vary between early childhood education programs.
