In this course we will examine selected aspects of the political, economic, social, military, and diplomatic history of the United States since the end of Reconstruction. Among the themes to be emphasized during the span of U.S. history are the growth, maturing and restructuring of an industrial society, the struggle of civil and human rights since the end of Reconstruction, and the activist role of the U.S. in the international arena.
