Broadcast Arts Technology (BAT.AA)
Associate in Arts
Arts and Communication
Orchard Ridge Campus
The Broadcast Option is a cooperatively arranged program with Specs Howard School of Media Arts. Oakland Community College will grant a block of 18 credit hours (applicable to Associate in Arts – Broadcast Option only) to students who have completed the Radio and Television Broadcasting course with Specs Howard School of Media Arts. In addition to the 18 credit hours, students must meet the OCC requirements for Associate in Arts – Broadcast Option degree.
This program prepares students for entry level employment in such areas as television production, broadcast journalism, journalism, internal communications, public relations, writing for the media and media management.
Graduating from this program qualifies the student for the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) endorsement. Students should work closely with an OCC counselor to identify courses from the MTA List which apply to the endorsement and to select courses that will satisfy the intake requirements of the intended transfer institution.
All courses that satisfy MTA requirements must be completed with a grade of "C" (2.0) or higher. All courses comprising the 62 credits required for the degree must be completed with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Because transferability of credits varies with colleges and universities, programs, and departmental majors, students are urged to discuss their program plans with an OCC counselor and an advisor at the intended transfer institution.
This program has been designed to meet the particular needs of business and industry. Although offered by Oakland Community College, this program is not available to the general public and, therefore, is restricted in use and application.
